Insiders Guide to Ibiza... Secrets of the East

The east coast of Ibiza is a treasure trove of secret coves, divine beach clubs and choice eating spots.

Here’s a run down of a few favourite east coast hang outs, some secret and others… well, not so, but we love them anyway.

Beach clubs

So many to choose from you could really make a week of it. The new Atazro Beach and Chiringuito at the wild and woolly Cala Nova. Lunch at the white and turquoise restaurant then stop by for a cocktail and snack at the Chiringuito after a swim, or even a surf if the wind is up.

If romance is on the cards then head straight to Amante, seriously one of the most romantic spots in Ibiza. Tucked into the cliff of Sol d’en Serra just past Santa Eulalia, Amante serves up divine food and drinks with an exquisite view. It also holds an outdoor cinema during the summer months showing a mix of instant classics and new releases.

Nikki Beach Ibiza is like spring break for grown ups. Located at S’Argamassa beach this club is bright and super charged. The beach is great, the pool is gorgeous and the atmosphere is fun defined.

Beaches

You could just take a drive from Es Figueral and stop at every beach along the east coast. Each cove has its own charms. Favourites are Cala Mastella for its petite gorgeousness and it’s famous restaurant, El Bigote. Cala Lleyna for is wide stretch of soft white sand and eccentric weekend flea market. Cala Pada for its jetty jump off. Santa Eualia for being super kid friendly and right in the centre of the town – a perfect destination for a renting a luxury family villa in Ibiza. And Cala Llonga for its massive expanse of sand and it’s shaded children’s playground. If you want to get even more secretive then head to Pou des Lleo, Es Xarcu (you must eat lunch there) or the truly secretive and off the beaten track cove of Cala Olivera (be sure to bring snacks, there are no facilities at the little piece of private paradise).

Quirky things to do

The caves at C’an Marça used to conceal pirate treasures, but now you can take a tour through the stalagmites and stalactites while taking a moment to escape the sun for the coolness of a replica waterfall. The experience is enhanced if everyone in your group talks like a pirate. And you can have a sneaky peek at the private island opposite with its impossibly luxurious villa and private lighthouse.
